Private Instruction
With the study of the cane there
are several programs to get you started beginning with private lessons. You may elect to try it out with zero commitment,
no contract/enrollment agreement, and simply pay by the hour. Classes are 1 hour in duration. Participants must be 18
years or older.
Other choices include a monthly sign up where students pay for a minimum of four
(4) lessons. In a five week month there is no extra fee. The classes are 45 minutes per session, for a minimum
of three hours per month of instruction.
For the more serious students and best value, a three
month certification program is recommended. A student is guaranteed ten (10) hours of instruction and certified (at Level
1) upon successful completion of the course. This certification is the first of four levels, the fourth being black belt.
For
those interested in teaching, a minimum of 40 hours of instruction from Master Jay is required, as well as a demonstration
of your skills. There are no additional testing fees for levels 1-3 unless a testing has to be repeated or rescheduled.
The black belt level requires testing fees. Upon successful completion of Level 3 you will receive an instructors certification
and may teach others, however, you will not be eligible to certify others as this is reserved for black belts.
As
a GET SAFE black belt you will confidently go about instructing and/or certifying others.
The course
material is the same in all programs however with private study you get attention paid to strengths and weaknesses.
For example, someone coming to GET SAFE with strong abilities in movement and range of motion, might be taught jumping, leaping
and spinning techniques. Conversely, a student with limb issues would be taught custom tailored techniques to his/her
abilities.
Sponsored Workshop
This
program requires a minimum enrollment of twelve (12) students. It may be a church organization, the YMCA, Elks Lodge, or perhaps
a group of friends. This offer is not available to martial art schools. Participants must be 18 years or older.
Master
Jay will travel to your location and present one class per week for one hour. There is no certification accompanying
this program.
The sponsor collects the required dues prior to the start of the program and
reserves the dates and times with Master Jay. The cost of the workshop is $175 per student and includes a cane from
CaneMasters (TM), valued at $60. Considering this, the cost per session is less than
$20 per person. The sponsor, one person, will receive a free pass to attend the workshop as well as a free cane for
sponsoring the event. The sponsoring organization will also receive a 10% rebate on twelve students tuition. Please
consider the space necessary for ten students to work safely. Travel costs may apply if outside of 60 miles.
So
take advantage of this low priced, fun way of introducing yourself to the the power of the the cane and share it with your
friends!
Seminars
A
seminar consist of a one-time appearance by Master Jay where he will instruct a class on the safe handling of the cane for
fitness and self defense. (Not available for martial art schools).
Participants must be 18 years
or older.
Much of the curriculum for this seminar is easily learned and applied. Fun, easy
and empowering - what a great combination!
The class is 3 hours, covering exercises, stretching
with the cane, strikes, blocks, and street-wise techniques. Students will interact with the instructor and each other
role playing attack scenarios.
The cost to attend the seminar is $100 per student. There
is a minimum enrollment of twelve (12). All participants will receive a cane from CaneMasters (TM),
valued at $60.
So call upon your family and friends to have your very own seminar and be certain
to have an organizer. I'll want to give that a person a free pass to the seminar, and a cane!
NOTE:
Seminars
are available from San Jose to San Francisco at no additional cost. If outside this area a minimal travel charge of
.50 per mile will apply up to 300 miles. If over 300 miles air fare and lodging costs will apply.
Specialized Systems Training
Master Jay continues to offer specialized
systems training to individuals in need of sensory integration and motor skill development. This program has proven popular
with therapists. In this program are individuals diagnosed with functional challenges, keeping them from understanding
how to better use their body. This program has limited availability and typically there is a waiting list to get started.
This
specialized program is supported by Doctor's, and therapists by referral of patients. Master Jay comes highly recognized
with letters of recommendation & testimonials available upon requests.
This program focuses on three processes.
Inter-hemispheric integration, vestibular shake up and proprioceptive awareness. Master Jay has been instructing this program
since 2001 making it available for individual families here in the Bay Area. Additionally, it has been taught in small groups
such as the state funded School for Autism in West Palm Beach, Florida.
